We needed an online tool to store and share project files with clients, suppliers and each other. It was often confusing which document was the latest and who has seen it and sending large files usually involved burning CDs and a courier. This is a common scenario with many project teams across all industries.

Key challenges included:

• Bullet-proof security modelling for storing legal and accounting documents
• Design and implementation of a scalable server design and infrastructure to enable high volume data transfer and traffic
• Full document text search
• Creating a simple user interface
• SaaS marketing and sales subscription model

The Solution

OurDisk is a brandable online platform for businesses and project teams large and small. They use it to store their project related files in one central place. Each document and member has a visible history, so there is no confusion about the latest version or who’s seen what. You can even invite strangers to see a file.

It solves the issue of sending large files and we have just introduced video streaming so you can share a video without even downloading it.

We are now into a stable version 2 with a solid user base and future development path. The application has an excellent niche and we are very excited about the growth prospects of the product. Future development includes a mobile application and an iPad release.

Results

We are extremely happy with the solution and it is quickly gaining market share. OurDisk is currently used by companies in the USA and Australia across a range of industries including media agencies, creative and marketing companies, building and construction projects, legal and accounting firms and export and import industries.
